The ex-lawyer for the former president has stepped down as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This follows a court battle that invalidated her legal standing to occupy the role.

Official Departure

US Attorney General, the Attorney General, accepted the prosecutor's departure on the start of the week. In a statement that the court's "flawed" ruling made it unworkable for the official to lead the department effectively.

"Let no one confuse following the order as giving up," she declared. "My fight will now reach across America."

Judicial Challenge

The departure follows closely on a US appeals court determined that she had been acting without proper authority as the top prosecutor. This ruling is could influence many criminal cases in the Garden State.

The appellate judges ruled that a temporary posting that did not receive confirmation by the US Senate violated the statute on vacant positions.

Future Role and Reaction

Bondi said that the former prosecutor will continue working within the justice department as a top consultant. Habba plans to pursue additional appeals of the court's action, aiming for a overturned decision.

Writing online, Bondi argued that the court "must not override the executive's selection of prosecutors responsible for executing the fundamental role of the presidency of enforcing the law."

Performance in Office

Bondi highlighted her tenure and said that under her leadership, the Newark saw a significant drop in offenses. Additionally that the Camden had its first summer in 50 years free from homicides.

Connection to Donald Trump

Habba, 41, first joined Donald Trump's lawyers in recent years. She later represented her client in his business records case in New York last year, which resulted in his conviction on 34 counts of document fraud.

Earlier, assuming the role of US Attorney, Trump had revealed he was appointing her as his White House advisor in a potential future term, calling Habba as deeply loyal and a dedicated fighter for justice.
