The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' underwhelming unveiling last autumn.

Recently, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a more defined game identity.

The president stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.

The news mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a sharper identity.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the input to heart and revamped the title with a renewed vision - one that’s ready to fulfill its promise to our players.

Our confidence in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of 31st Union. Following some time of discussions, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.

His leadership and experience in the competitive gaming genre is extensive, having devoted the recent years producing and leading some of the most popular series in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
